What Are Hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are swollen or inflamed veins around your anus. They are also know as "Piles". Even though Swollen blood vessels in your anal canal may sound scary, in most cases it is not a serious health problem.

While most hemorrhoid cases are not that serious, you should still see a doctor just to make sure you actually have hemorrhoids, and not a more serious condition such as colon cancer.


There Are Two Different Types Of Hemorrhoids:

1. Internal Hemorrhoids - Are exactly what they sound like, they are on the inside of the anus and rectum. Internal hemorrhoids can be painful especially if they get large enough.
2. External Hemorrhoids - Are located on the outside of the anus.

Both internal and external hemorrhoids can cause bleeding.
